A week in Lanzarote
This year my girlfriend and I just wanted to get some sun. After a disappointing two weeks down in Biarritz in the South West of France last year where we saw more rain than sun, we were banking on a full weeks’ worth of sun wherever we ended up!
It is always my policy to buy holidays online these days and I like to have a good look around just to see what is well priced and what might grab my attention. This year whilst I was browsing I came across a website that was all about Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands. I have to say that it was somewhere that I had never considered before. Looking through the website, the location sounded fantastic. Because of local restrictions on the island, there were no high rise buildings and no giant billboards either. It really sounded like somewhere that they were trying to keep nice. I also noticed that average rainfall in a whole year was only five or so inches – and this definitely appealed to me!
The island also had a lot of beautiful sights, thanks to the volcano’s that disrupted the island in the 18th and 19th centuries. There was even a tunnel nearly five miles long created purely from the eruptions. It sounded like a fascinating place, so I started to search for cheap Lanzarote holidays online. There were plenty of offers for the season we were looking at, so I booked something up there and then!
